I can’t believe it’s already 2015! I hope everyone had a wonderful 2014 and New Year’s. I feel like 2014 flew by for me and I hope that 2015 will slow down a little bit. I have so many goals that I want to try and accomplish this year, some that may not happen and some that definitely will (or at least I hope so.) I wanted to share with you my 2015 New Year’s Resolutions that I have set and hope to accomplish by the end of 2015. I’m hoping that by sharing them with you I will hold myself more accountable and actually work on accomplishing them.
I think this one is pretty self explanatory and doesn’t need much of an explanation. I love to blog but I’m bad at actually sitting down and doing it. I have tons of ideas to post I just can’t get myself to sit down long enough and do it consistently. I still have 2 half marathons to recap from 2014! I would love to be able to set a goal of 3-4 posts a week but I don’t think that is a reachable goal for me right now. I would like to write at least 1-2 blog posts a week hopefully more but no less than 1 even if it is just a weekly fitness/running update.
Drink More Water
I really need to start drinking more water on a daily basis. I have been addicted to drinking Mt. Dew for a while now and I need to stop. I have learned to cut back on it quite a bit but I still will choose it or any other soda over water if I have the option. I have plenty of water bottles I just need to carry them around with me and actually use them!
Cameron and I have purchased a few new cook books and are not only trying to expand on what we eat but also in a healthier way. I want to cut back on eating out as often as I do, and work on cooking more meals at home. One of the biggest struggles for me will be to learn to eat breakfast every morning. I never eat breakfast unless I’m traveling and then it is usually McDonald’s which isn’t very healthy at all.
This is something I try to do every year and fail miserably. I always buy a planner with the intentions of getting my life organized but after I finished school I haven’t bothered to continue with it. But this year will be different! I have been following some organizational blogs and instagram accounts and I am ready to make a change. I haven’t decided which planner I am going to order yet but I am already planning how I will utilize it for day to day tasks as well as meal planning and workouts.
Run a sub 2:30 Half Marathon
Last year Cameron and I set a goal of finishing a half marathon and we accomplished that goal in November at the 2014 Wine & Dine Half Marathon. We have since completed another half in which we improved our time by 11 minutes! I would love to be able to set a goal for 2015 to be able to run a half marathon in 2:30 or under. My PR is currently 2:47 which isn’t too far off of my goal. I’m hoping that with eating better and running more I will be able to report back this time next year with a new and improved time/goal.
Yes I know this is everyone’s Resolution for the New Year but it is something that I need to do to get back in the shape I used to be in. Cameron and I have had a gym membership for over a year at our current gym but we rarely go. I would like to get back to going 5-6 days a week no matter what. I also need to run more in 2015! I have a love/hate relationship with running right now. I love to do it, I find it so relaxing but right now I just can’t seem to kick the mindset that I will never get faster. So I will be aiming for running at least 3 days a week and including a long run each week so I’m not shocked when half marathon time comes.
This goes hand in hand with the previous goal of working out more and eating better. I would like to lose the extra weight I have added in the past year and a half by not being as active and eating whatever I wanted.
This is something I say I will do every year but never fully accomplish. I have set a goal of reading 20 books this year over on my goodreads account and I really want to accomplish it. I love to read but I never want to put the computer down long enough to do so. Every year I get really into books in the summer time but then it seems to just fall to the side any other time.
Learn how to use my DSLR
This one is also pretty self explanatory but it is something I really would like to know how to do. When Cameron upgraded his camera, I kept the Canon EOS 7D for myself. However, I don’t really know how to use it and I get frustrated when he tries to teach me. But this year I am aiming to learn on my own so that I can use it to its full potential and not have to ask Cameron every time I want to take pictures.
What are your goals/resolutions for 2015?
